LWVUS requests no federal funding for police in schools
2/25/2021 - LWVUS signed onto an ACLU and disability rights groups letter asking President Biden to end federal funding of police in schools. This would occur via an executive order, in partnership with Congress on a FY 2022 budget that includes no federal funding for school police and presidential support for the Counseling Not Criminalization in Schools Act, which LWV previously endorsed.

On January 15, 2020, Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT – crossing the three-fourths threshold of support required from the states.
Now we need Congress to remove the deadline so the ERA can become a permanent part of the U.S. Constitution. The ERA passed Congress in 1972, with a 1977 ratification deadline, later extended to 1982. On Jan, 7, 2020, the LWV of the United States sent a letter to the United States Congress urging them to remove the ratification deadline on the ERA.
